As Christmas 2022 approaches, allow us to help you find the best drone to gift to a loved one this year (or yourself).

Whether you're after a top of the range DJI drone or something budget-friendly, we hope our list can assist with your decision.

Most drones use similar controls and have built-in safety features, such as obstacle avoidance and return-to-home, so we'll be comparing image quality, price and flight times.

DJI Mavic 3

The Mavic 3 is DJI's current flagship, top of the line drone.

Released in November 2021 it features a 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad camera, f/2.5-f/11 aperture, shoots 20MP images and 5.1K/50fps DCI 4K/120fps video.

It can fly for 46 minutes and has a range of up to 15km.

Cost wise this is at the top end and unless you're a serious pro, you'd be better off with something else from our list like the Air 2S or Mini 3 Pro.

Weight: 895g (Mavic 3 Cine, 899g)

Camera resolution: 20MP

Flight time: 46 minutes

Range: 15km (FCC), 12km (CE)

DJI Mini 3 Pro

The Mini 3 Pro is the best "mini" drone out at the moment and possibly the biggest release this year.

It features an impressive camera, the latest DJI smart flight modes, 34-minute flight time, vertical shooting and comes in under 250 grams. It's hard to find a better overall drone at this price point.

Weight: 249g

Camera resolution: 12.1MP

Flight time: 34 minutes

Range: 8km-12km

DJI Air 2S

Weight: 595g

We're pleased to confirm that our Operational Authorisation (OA) for drone operations has been renewed for another year by the Civil Aviation Authority.

An operational authorisation issued by the CAA is required for any flight within the Specific category

The Specific category covers operations that present a greater risk than that of the Open category, or where one or more elements of the operation fall outside the boundaries of the Open category.

To gain the OA we must ensure that our Operations Manual is kept up to date with correct documentation, legislation and references and that we hold the appropriate insurance coverage - EC Regulation 785/2004 compliant.
